Trail Distilling continues to earn high praises in its industry, with the latest being co-owner Sara Brennan being named "Best Woman Distiller" at the 2022 International Women's Wine & Spirits Competition.
The IWWSC is the only known competition in the world that features a judging panel comprised exclusively of women. The panel is composed of women in influential positions throughout the wine and spirits industry, but makers of any gender are invited to compete with a focus on wines and spirits favored by women consumers.
While Trail Distilling offers half a dozen different spirits, it was their Trillium Pink Pinot Gin that stole the show, earning an impressive 99 points. The panel liked its "spicy, complex and creamy" notes, giving it the top marks. These complex flavors are created by combining Trail Distilling's proprietary blend of 14 botanicals with an aging process that has the gin resting for two months in Oregon pinot noir barrels. The end result is a unique gin that serves as a wonderful example of Oregon's craft beverage scene.
This isn't the first award the Trillium Gin has earned. It took home Double Platinum and Best in Show at the 2021 ASCOT Awards, Gold at the New York International Spirits Competition, among others.
You can sample this and many more creations at their Oregon City tasting room Wednesdays through Sundays. They also offer a beautiful private event space, tours of the distillery plus Wine and Spirits Education Trust sanctioned spirits classes. Want to know the best ways to use their creations in a cocktail? Trail also has mixology classes that will have you looking like a pro at your next gathering.
Don't forget to check in using the Mt. Hood Territory Tap Trail mobile passport when you visit. If you buy two bottles of spirits, you'll get a free rocks glass.
