The Story Behind eNRG Kayaking

Whitewater kayaker with GoPro camera on helmet paddles his way through boulders and rapids during the Sandy River Showdown.

For our 11th episode of Territory Tales we had a conversation with our friend Sam Drevo, owner of eNRG Kayaking in Oregon City. He has led an adventure filled, truly unique life that started with competitive swimming and progressed into summer camps filled with water play activities. At first he was drawn to canoeing and eventually, after a little nudging, he tried his hand at kayaking; it was an instant connection.

He developed relationships with key mentors and got involved with the USA Olympic team at an early age. He even helped build the 1992 team's boats, including one that one of his former camp mates used to win the Olympic Gold medal! See what we mean? That's just a taste of the uniqueness we're referring to, and he tells even more great stories in this episode.

He now owns eNRG Kayaking, which offers unique guided tours (like an up close look at the historic Willamette Falls) and rental equipment on the Willamette and Clackamas Rivers with a fantastic team of guides.
