Events in Oregon’s Mt. Hood Territory offer year-round festivals and activities for the whole family in the greater Portland area. Winter’s event calendar is full of snowboarding and skiing events at Timberline Lodge & Ski Area and Mt. Hood Skibowl, plus holiday happenings at Christmas tree farms. Spring events burst upon the scene with blooming flowers and baby farm animals galore. Summertime is filled with an abundance of outdoor activities, festivals, music events, and Farmers' Markets. Celebrate the fall bounty as local communities provide family fun harvest festivals, corn mazes, pumpkin patches, and haunted trails. The Clackamas County Fairgrounds & Event Center offers a variety of events throughout the year, including the Clackamas County Fair and Rodeo. Join for a creative and memorable evening at the Environmental Learning Center (ELC). Experience the beauty of the ELC’s surroundings with a guided tour, engage in a hands-on art activity, and connect with fellow nature enthusiasts. This in-person event is the perfect way to unwind and immerse yourself in nature, while supporting the ELC’s environmental education programs. Begin the evening with a scenic walk along the wetland trails led by artist, biologist, and outdoor enthusiast Michelle Boercker of Trail Skipper Studio. Afterward, create your own block-printed art piece in a peaceful, scenic space overlooking the wetland. Enjoy treats and beverages while you work, including harp music by Heather Andrews of Three Rivers Artist Guild, charcuterie from Watershed Cafe, gourmet chocolates from Sweet Masterpiece, and tea from Cup of Tea. Participation is $50 per person for those bringing their own art supplies, or $75 per person for all materials provided.

Anyone can pour paint, come have some messy fun! No experience necessary and all the supplies will be provided. You will get multiple canvas and wood panels to design using many colors to choose from and will learn techniques like Grenade Pour, Marble Pouring and Inverted Cup Pour. Paint Pouring can be messy so dress for the mess and come have a great time! Art pieces will need to dry overnight and will be available to pick up the following day or at your convenience.

Join Park Ranger Rhett on Sunday mornings for a meandering walk through the park to observe and identify the birds that call Tryon Creek State Natural Area their home. All ages and experience levels are welcome, loaner binoculars are available upon request. They do ask that you leave your furry friends at home for this walk. Expect to be on the trails for 1.5 to 2 hours with various routes and levels of strenuousness, this time can vary based on bird activity. Participants are free to leave the walk early if needed. No registration is required.

No Experience necessary in this unique class! You'll start off with a 16x19 piece of wood and a 10x13 high quality mirror (not plastic or sticker). You'll have the option of placing the mirror wherever you like before placing the glass tiles. If you have a special gem or piece of your own you'd like to add, bring it with you! Easy to use glass cutters available as well so you can make specific abstract designs! Instructors will walk you through the process of placing, grouting and cleaning your work of art, ready to hang when you leave! This is a bit of a messy activity so instructors will provide aprons, gloves and all tools needed to utilize your work station and make this a great experience with a gorgeous souvenir to take home!
