Stevens-Crawford Heritage House’s
|
|||
Stevens-Crawford Heritage House continues its 100th year celebration with an outdoor vintage auto display and antique canning display inside from Sept. 6-Nov. 29. Refreshments will be served and admission is free on September 6. Regular prices for tickets are $7 (adults), $5 (youth) and children under 5 are free using the Historic Oregon City Pass. The Pass includes admission to the End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center and Museum of the Oregon Territory. The locally renowned German Von Derahe brothers built the house for the Harley Stevens family between 1907 and 1908. Harley’s wife, Mary, was a daughter of Medorem Crawford who was very influential in early Oregon and Oregon City history. The house is a textbook example of the Foursquare or Classical Box architectural style which was popular just after the turn of the century. The Stevens family bequeathed the house and its contents to the Clackamas County Historical Society, currently operated by Clackamas Heritage Partners, to be kept as a museum in honor of both sides of her family. Ninety percent of the contents of the house currently displayed belonged to the family. |
