Government Camp is Mt. Hood’s Alpine Village! For 100+ years “Govy” has been base camp for year-round outdoor recreation. Hotels, motels, condos, vacation rentals, and remote cabins offer overnight options. Our Cascadian streetscape – featuring black iron art – is the backdrop for dining, shopping, taverns, and our historic museum/visitor center. Located at the 4,000 ft. elevation on Mt. Hood’s south slope along the historic Barlow Road and Mt. Hood Scenic Byway.
